Amidst the disconnected hustle of the digital age, communal hot-cold therapy is a practice that returns the body and mind to a state of equilibrium.
In 2023, SVETTE was born from a trip to Norway, where we experienced Scandinavian sauna culture–we sweated alongside strangers then plunged into the icy Norwegian fjords together. In that shared experience, we felt the power of contrast therapy: not just as a wellness ritual, but as a way to foster connection.
Upon returning to our lives in Tacoma, the contrast from what we experienced in Norway to our everyday life was glaringly apparent. Sucked back into humdrum of our jobs and perpetual to-do lists, it was clear that our lives were missing a wellness practice that grounded us to ourselves, our friends, and others. We were called to create this experience in our home.
Armed with a vision and driven by a purpose, we finally put our sauna on Owen Beach after years of failed attempts, planning and iterating. To us, SVETTE was our natural calling: create a space to share our values of community, health, and wellness with people from all walks of life.
